(Living as Exiles: Apostolic Letters for Today’s Believers, Part 4)

Beloved in Christ,

Do not be surprised when the faith seems mocked, when the truth is treated as myth, or when righteousness is scorned. The apostles warned us long ago: “Understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy…” (2 Timothy 3:1–2).

The decline you see around you is not the defeat of God’s kingdom but the unveiling of hearts. Broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many walk it; narrow is the way that leads to life, and few find it (Matthew 7:13–14). If you are mocked for your faith, remember that your Lord was despised first. If you are few, remember that Gideon’s army was small but victorious in God’s hand.

Therefore, continue steadfastly in the Scriptures. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). Let the Word dwell richly in you when the voices of culture grow louder. Be diligent in prayer, for strength is found in secret communion with the Father. Surround yourself with those who love Christ, for even a faithful remnant is a fortress of encouragement.

Beloved, faithfulness is not measured by numbers but by endurance. Do not trade holiness for acceptance, nor truth for applause. Hold fast, for the crown is promised to those who overcome.

Why This Matters

The decline of cultural Christianity is not a tragedy but a test. It reveals who truly belongs to Christ and who only followed Him for convenience. In a world where faith is unpopular, your steadfastness proclaims that the gospel is worth more than comfort, reputation, or safety. By standing firm amid decline, you prove that Christ is your treasure and His kingdom your home.
