(Living as Exiles: Apostolic Letters for Today’s Believers, Part 1)

Beloved in Christ,

From the beginning, God has written a story far greater than the world’s headlines. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). You were not born into chaos or accident, but into the Creator’s design. He formed man and woman in His image, set them in His world, and gave them purpose: to walk with Him, reflect His glory, and rule over creation with justice.

Yet sin entered, and the story bent under rebellion. Humanity exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and we have all felt the weight of that fall. Wars, greed, corruption, confusion of identity—all trace back to that first fracture. But God, in mercy, spoke promises of restoration. The prophets declared a Redeemer who would come to crush the serpent and heal His people. In the fullness of time, Christ came, died for our sins, and rose again. Now, by faith, you are joined to Him—chosen, redeemed, sealed with His Spirit (Ephesians 1:3–14).

This is the story you stand in, child of God. Not the story of cultural labels, not the shifting narrative of politics or self-made identity, not the empty chase for success or pleasure. You are part of the eternal plan of God, set apart as His people: “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people” (1 Peter 2:9).

So then, do not let the world’s story swallow you. It will tell you that your worth is in your appearance, your wealth, or your followers. It will tempt you to define yourself by ideology or tribe. But the gospel roots you deeper: you belong to Christ, and your life is hidden with Him (Colossians 3:3).

Hold fast, beloved. When culture bends the truth, you stand on the Rock. When the world boasts in power, you boast in the cross. When others despair, you hold to the blessed hope of His coming.

Why This Matters

If you forget the story you belong to, you will live by the world’s story—a story that ends in emptiness and judgment. But remembering your place in God’s eternal plan gives you clarity, strength, and purpose. You will not be swayed by trends or shaken by fear, because you know the Author of history and the One who holds your future.
